According to a study done by Harvard University, “about 47% of our waking hours are spent thinking about what isn’t going on” (Bradt, 2010). Naturally, our minds tend to wander or deviate from what we are doing. Practicing mindfulness not only reroutes the thought process, but acknowledges that the deviance occurred. This is the first step in being mindful: awareness.
