Instructor, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Postgraduate Gerontological Nursing

Amanda moved to the Kootenays in 2002, with her husband and it has been "home" ever since.

As an alumni of Selkirk College this is where her passion for gerontology began. Since graduating in 2011, Amanda has worked in several areas of the West Kootenays. Her experience includes working with seniors in complex care environments with a strong focus on palliative care, the dementia process, chronic disease management and the social impacts on death and dying. As a born leader, Amanda enjoys leading the team to success through evidence-based practice, accountability, humour and example.

I am excited about my new role as an instructor in the International Gerontology nursing program and the influence and impact I have on new nurses, specifically within the gerontology specialty.

When I am not focusing on seniors, I am playing with my children and husband camping, walking our two big dogs and enjoying the Kootenay lifestyle.
