Instructor, Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Chris graduated from the University College of the Cariboo (now Thompson Rivers University) in 2003. His first job was in the Mineral Springs Hospital in Banff, AB, followed by four years at the Foothills Medical Center Emergency Department.

An opportunity presented itself to explore transport nursing and he very quickly discovered that he was in over his head. Not to be deterred, he accepted a job in 2008 with Interior Health as a critical care transport nurse with a joint IH-BCAS project called the Critical Care Transport Team. This model morphed into the current High Acuity Response Team (HART).

In 2011, Chris accepted a once in a lifetime opportunity to work as a critical care flight RN in Canada's north, servicing air access only communities in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories, where he connected with a multi-disciplinary cohort and an indigenous population. He was pushed well beyond his comfort zone professionally, personally and physically and became a clinical educator for the same aeromedical program in 2017.

Wishing to remain closer to home and family, Chris targeted Selkirk College as a stimulating and challenging position that he could employ the learning he has gained. He is excited to try his hand at formal nursing education and is looking forward to the challenges and rewards that this new role will bring at Selkirk College.
