I identify as Métis, having Métis and Scottish ancestry on my Mother’s side and I have participated in ceremonies, workshops and meetings in the Gathering Place. I have a terrific tendency to make connections between individuals and groups and in this way, am a strong advocate for Indigenous students. All of the roles I hold in my career involve assisting individuals and groups to move toward their ideal vision of themselves.
I have been fortunate to work alongside Indigenous communities, developing and delivering wellness programming with a focus on cancer prevention. For three years, I was involved in supporting a group of Elders from the Coast Salish territory to fundraise for, organize and facilitate an Aboriginal Womens’ Wellness Conference, hosting over 300 women at each event.
I live in Castlegar with my family on property that has nurtured my family for four generations. I feel fortunate to call the Kootenays home and to be raising my children here. We're an active family who enjoy biking, skiing and being outside and all our surroundings have to offer us. I look forward to connecting with students and faculty at Selkirk College.
