The Fifth Annual RoboGames will take over the Selkirk College Castlegar Campus gym on April 29 when more than 80 young people from across the West Kootenay and Boundary region arrive to create and compete. With the aim of promoting science and technology learning, the event is a partnership between Selkirk College and the Nelson Tech Club.
Staging the exciting event is made possible through the generous sponsorship of local business and industry. Some of the sponsors gathered at the Castlegar Campus to talk about the upcoming event, including: (L-R) Ralph Lunn (Zellstoff Celgar), Brad Pommen (Nelson Tech Club and RoboGames founder), Blair Weston (Fortis BC), Ken Kalesnikoff (Kalesnikoff Lumber), Erin Handy (Kootenay Association for Science & Technology), Elroy Switlishoff (Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers and Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists), Stephen Johnson (Columbia Power Corporation), Anders Malpass (Drop Designs), Carol Vanelli-Worosz (Teck Trail Operations), and Maggie Keczan (Selkirk College).
The public is invited to come check out the spectacle which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Castlegar Campus gym. Admission is free.
