Computer Skills for Prescription Processing

PTEC 119 Computer Skills for Prescription Processing is a hands-on introduction to the management of patient, doctor and drug database information using pharmacy computer dispensing software. Students apply concepts learned in prerequisite online courses of the program and pharmacy environment case study scenarios to create computer database information. The emphasis of the course is on importance of accurate and complete database information to support product distribution. Concepts explored in this course are used as the foundation for the PTEC 115 Dispensing lab and PTEC 116 Compounding lab. There is an emphasis on the demonstration of ethical, legal and professional standards while exploring the learning outcomes of the course.
