The food for the annual event - held Saturday, November 23ed - was prepared by students in the in the Professional Cooking Level II Program who put together an array of scrumptious hors d’oeurvres and a delicious four-course meal. First class service was provided by second year Resort & Hotel Management students who were also tasked with transforming the Mary Hall banquet room. Assisting in greeting the guests was handled by a team of Aviation Program students. The Selkirk College Special Education Program assembled an impressive array of silent and live auction items featuring a host of regional businesses. After desert was put away, the Contemporary Music & Technology Program students put on a two-set boogie filled tribute to disco that had most in attendance on their feet.
Selkirk College President Angus Graeme and Board of Governors Chair Bruce Morrison gave speeches to thank long time and new supporters. One of the highlights of the evening was the touching speeches delivered by Adult Special Education students Claire Janz, Summer Clement and Cody Archambeault. The trio brought the gathering to their feet after talking about the importance of Selkirk College to their lives.
Gala 2013 raised money for the Adult Special Education Program and other programs at Selkirk College.
