Unarmed Civilian Peacekeeping/Protection

Unarmed civilian peacekeeping/protection (UCP) is a nonviolent strategy where trained volunteers or professionals are deployed in volatile situations to reduce violence and to create safer space for a flourishing, diverse community.

Guided by the principles of social justice, human rights and international law, UCP works under the guidance of local leadership to observe and record, engage in advocacy and participate in protective accompaniment of vulnerable individuals and groups.

Skills will include protective presence and accompaniment, monitoring and de-escalation.

Dates: Thursday, June 22, and Friday, June 23, 6:30–9 pm and Saturday, June 24, 9 am–5 pm
