Course Description

This course focuses on both the basic and specialized techniques behind cleaning buildings. Courses also include a review of health and safety regulations, WHMIS training, and workplace professionalism. This course is based on the ISSA Canada and Cleaning Management Institute\xbfs cleaning practices and standards. Students are provided with the knowledge and practical skills for entry into the building service industry in custodial work, and upgrading for those who are currently employed in the industry. Training includes theory, demonstrations, and practical skills training in the classroom and appropriate work areas. Topics include health and safety regulations, workplace professionalism, and basic and specialized cleaning.

Instructor Profile: Deena Martineau

Deena Martineau brings over twenty years of experience to the Building Services field. As Custodial Lead West for the Kootenay regions School District #8, she has overseen and mentored new and seasoned custodians for the past seven years. Her experience combined with her personable nature provides students with the direction and enthusiasm they need to succeed in the program and with their future employment opportunities.
