Do the Wall Sit and Win!

The wall sit is an isometric exercise involving muscle contraction while in a static position. An isometric exercise is one that involves the contraction of muscles without any movement around the joints. The constant tension on the muscles may help improve muscle endurance and stabilization. They are useful for activating many muscle fibers at once.

How It Works

Stand comfortably with feet approximately shoulder width apart, with your back against a smooth vertical wall.

Slowly slide your back down the wall to assume a position with both your knees and hips at a 90-degree angle.

Hold this position as long as possible.

Prizes

A T-shirt will be given to the first-place male and first-place female competitor at each campus.

A $5 gift card to the bookstore/cafeteria will be awarded to a random participant (each participant's name will go in a hat), at each campus.

Open to students, staff, and community!

Participate at the Nelson Tenth Street Gym or the Castlegar Campus Gym. You can also email a video to @email or @email.
