I moved to the Kootenays to teach at Selkirk College because of the location. The West Kootenays offer some of the best skiing and back country access in the world.
The Biology course that I teach has a lot of difficult content. Because of Selkirk’s small size, we can provide our students with hands on labs, tutorials, peer tutors, study groups and more, which ensures that each student has the best opportunity for success.
My undergraduate degree was in Biochemistry, but I was always interested in how the human body adapts to physical work. During my Masters and PhD studies I worked with some of Canada’s top athletes, and it is this same knowledge that I now use in developing my worksite health and wellness programs. I teach Human Anatomy and Physiology at Selkirk College, but my students also learn how each system contributes to health and wellness as well as to disease.
