Welcome to GLOWS at Selkirk College - giving light to the journey that today's youth will take in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math by guiding youth inquiry, dialogue and critical thinking.
GLOWS helps provide pathways and tools youth need to pursue post-secondary education and careers in a variety of disciplines.
GLOWS provides community-based workshops, events, initiatives, and outreach in rural communities throughout the Kootenay/Boundary region for youth ages 5-19.
Programming includes robotics, coding, chemistry, engineering, environmental science, math, arts, technology, physics and biology, among other subjects. GLOWS partners with schools, professional associations and other organizations to provide initiatives that allow children of all ages to participate in hands-on exploration.
GLOWS is a program of Selkirk College, a learner-centered regional community college that provides educational experiences and pathways to prepare students for work, further education, service and lifelong learning.
GLOWS was founded in 2007 by the Kootenay Association for Science and Technology (KAST). In 2016, GLOWS became a program of Selkirk College in an effort to enhance sustainability, partnerships, and reach.
