Course Overview

This five-week intensive course covers four in-person class sessions, each lasting two hours, at Selkirk College. Students will dive deep into Ableton Live's features, learning how to create rhythms, melodies and chord progressions, as well as record, edit and warp audio. With a strong focus on practical application, students will build a personal sound library to save their clips and ideas, facilitating the creation of full-fledged songs by the end of the course.

Students are required to bring a laptop containing an installation of Ableton Live and headphones to all in-person sessions. If needed, access a free trial of Ableton Live.

All students must be comfortable using a computer and web browser.

Delivery: Hybrid, in-person and asynchronous home study. There are four two-hour in-person sessions with pre-recorded videos for home study as well as activities and live-online collaboration jams. The course spans five weeks to allow students full access and learning.
