The show will run Friday, May 24 to Sunday, May 26 at its traditional venue of 402 Baker St in the Nelson Trading Company building.
The event will showcase original wooden furniture pieces, designed and built by students of the renowned Selkirk College Fine Woodworking program in Nelson. Tables, cabinets, and other projects of all shapes and sizes will be on display, and students will be on hand to answer questions and discuss their projects.
Fine Woodworking students in the class of 2019 are excited to present their final projects at the annual year-end show held May 24-26 at the Nelson Trading Company. Come and celebrate our year of hard work, splinters, and beautiful furniture.
“Our students have been working toward the year-end show since they entered our shop up at the Silver King campus in September,” said instructor David Ringheim. “The showcase has become a popular annual event for Nelson residents and visitors. We are excited to share our work and our love of fine woodworking with the public.
While at the show, be sure to check out the winner of this year’s student design competition - the Green Space Cabinet, a beautiful multifunction piece, with a nod to avid or aspiring urban gardeners.
Brian McArthur is a Fine Woodworking alumnus who works at Nelson Tiny Houses and is active in the Nelson Wood Coop. He recently had the chance to judge current students’ designs for the competition. He is eager to seeing this piece of furniture built for the year-end show.
“Green Space was a beautiful cabinet that caught my eye for its look and functionality,” says McArthur. “I can't wait to attend the year-end show. I remember being thrilled to showcase my project to the community. I am sure this year's class is just as excited.”
Congratulations to the winning team for their project Green Space!
The cabinet will be raffled off at the end of the show with tickets available all weekend at the event for $10, or 3 for $20.
