Alanna Carmichael Staff Bio
Department
School of Academic Upgrading & Development

Alanna completed her Bachelor of General Studies and a Bachelor of Education with a minor in Learning Disabilities from Simon Fraser University. Her undergraduate degrees were followed up by the Professional Development Program at SFU where she earned a B.C. Teachers Certificate in 2009.

While attending Simon Fraser University she worked in the Parks, Recreation and Culture field for various municipalities within Metro Vancouver. Working as a Volunteer Coordinator and Community Development Manager provided her with an ability to work with youth and young adults as they developed and pursued their career goals.

Alanna and her wife, Jill, moved to Nelson in 2016. Alanna currently works as a Teacher on Call with a local School District and owns/operates a tourist accommodation business.

She is excited to join the Academic Upgrading and Development Department as a Relief Instructor.
