Selkirk College's Human Services Diploma didn't disappoint.
"I enjoyed Selkirk College being located in a beautiful river valley and the outdoor opportunities are limitless in the West Kootenay," he says.
Forgues also found that staff at Selkirk College were personable and very approachable.
"It’s what I expected coming into Selkirk and I wasn’t disappointed," he says.
After graduating from Selkirk College with a Human Services Diploma in Child & Youth Care, Forgues completed his degree online at the University of Victoria. Now, he works full-time a youth agency in Castlegar doing one-on-one counseling, teaching life skills, mentoring and connecting youth with community resources.
He also co-facilitates a regional alcohol and drug day treatment program at a youth agency, carrying out a harm reduction curriculum, serving a diverse group of youth across the West Kootenay Boundary region.
Forgues looks forward to taking on new challenges in the field and in his life outside work.
"I plan on continuing to work and may undertake a master’s degree in the not so distant future. I have a goal of paddling all of the larger lakes in the region end to end on my stand up paddle board," he says.
