The grade point average is a weighted average and is calculated as follows:
- Multiply the grade point values earned in the course by the course credit assigned to that course (e.g., 4.33 grade points x 3 course credits = 12.99 Grade Point Credit). This calculation is found under Grade Point on your transcript.
- On your transcript, add the Grade Points for all courses taken and divide the result by the total number of credit hours taken.
Things to Know
- Term Grade Point Average (TGPA) is the GPA calculated for all courses taken in a specific term.
- Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is the GPA calculated over all the courses in which the student has been enrolled at the institution.
- Program GPA (PGPA) is the GPA calculated for courses in a specific program.
- The TGPA and CGPA shall be determined and stated on the transcript at the end of each semester.
- If a course is repeated, only the higher grade will be used to calculate TGPA and CGPA.
- Some types of grades (such as withdrawals) are not included in the calculations.
- Selkirk College has several Grading Tables that are program specific and can be found by searching Policy 8612: Grading.
