Paul has always had an affinity for languages and cultures, but his love for adventure and discovery became especially apparent with his travels through Latin America and Asia. During this time, he graduated from UVic with a BA in Economics and Linguistics, followed by a Graduate Diploma in Applied Linguistics.

Paul began his EFL career in Taiwan, where he initially taught English to young learners. He then became an instructor at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), where he specialized in research paper writing and editing, presentations instruction/coaching, and English for engineers.

After completing his MA in Linguistics at NCKU, Paul published award-winning research, and based on this research, founded an education consulting business that offered needs assessments and customized English courses for engineers and managers at multinational technology companies operating in Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP). During that period, Paul split his time between teaching at various engineering departments at NCKU, editing research papers, and consulting at several companies operating in STSP.

Upon returning to Canada in 2018, Paul continued editing research papers and then moved to the Kootenays, where he began teaching in Selkirk College’s English Language Program. He became School Chair for Selkirk International in 2021 and continues to bring his enthusiasm for learning and passion for different cultures and languages to his work.
