College Readiness Tool

The College Readiness Tool (CRT) is designed to assess your readiness for post-secondary. It will help you access information and resources to prepare for a successful educational experience.

Assessment Areas

The CRT will assess:

  • Reading

  • Writing

  • Arithmetic

  • Quantitative reasoning, algebra, statistics

Depending on your program, you will be required to write different portions of the CRT. Explore the different sub-test requirements.

Programs that Need to Write the CRT

The CRT is mandatory for students applying to: 

  • Nursing

  • Practical Nursing

  • Pharmacy Technician

  • Health Care Assistant

  • Hairstylist

  • Carpentry

  • Heavy Duty Mechanical

  • Metal Fabricator

  • Millwright/Machinist

  • Plant Operator

  • Welding

  • Electrical

  • Fine Woodworking

It is also mandatory if your enrolment officer has specifically requested this on your admissions/acceptance letter.

Booking the CRT

All CRT assessments are done online through Examity for US$10. If you're in Youth Train in Trades, you can write the exam through Selkirk College at no cost.

All CRT results are valid for 12 months.
