ASME Tests for BC Safety Authority
Upgrader Welding is a self-paced, competency-based training program sanctioned by the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) for welders seeking specific ASME trade endorsements. Selkirk College is authorized to grant ASME certifications to welders who demonstrate competence in specific processes. CWB testing is currently not available at Selkirk College.

Fee: $281.09 (each)
Requirements: Must have minimum Level “B” stamp in log book
ASME PWP # 11 - XWLD 0702
Fee: $381.09 (each)
Requirements: Must have minimum Level “B” stamp in log book
ASME Company Procedure - XWLD 0704
Fee: $381.09 (each)
ASME -BCP-100 Welder Performance Qualification Testing - XWLD 0706
Fee: $306.09 plus the BC Safety Authority Fees
Requirements: Welders are required to bring their logbook on testing day.
The BCP-100 Certificate allows BC and Alberta Welders to work in either province.
In order to be eligible to take a BCP-100 Pressure Welder Certificate of Qualification examination in the Province of British Columbia, a candidate must:
- Hold a Journeyperson Welder Certificate of Qualification issued by Skilled Trades BC, or
- Hold a Registered “A” or “B” Level Certificate of Qualification for Welding issued by Skilled Trades BC, or,
- Hold a Journeyperson Welder’s Interprovincial Standards Red Seal Certification from another jurisdiction.
The BCP-100 is an inter-provincial welding procedure that is recognized in both BC and Alberta (equivalent to Alberta “B”). A BC Safety Authority Safety Officer for Boiler & Pressure Vessels will govern the testing.

Employers must pre-register and provide authorization for their employees they sponsor
Welder Testers who are sponsored by their employers must have their employers make payment prior to test date
