Core Skills for Facilities Maintenance 2: General Facilities Maintenance

In this 30-hour theory and practical course, students will learn about the industry and practice skills and safety procedures. Some topic areas will include basic trade terminology, using measuring and testing devices, safe use of ladders/scaffolding/platforms, fire safety and reading blueprints.

Certificates included in this course are WHMIS and Asbestos Awareness. This course is recommended for people new to facilities maintenance roles.

Students will learn about topics in relation to facilities maintenance type work: WorksafeBC Regulations, About the industry, Terminology, Safe work procedures, and PPE, Hand and shop tools, Measuring and testing devices, Ladders, Scaffolding & Platforms, Asbestos Awareness Certificate (online), Mold Awareness, Fire & Life Safety Systems, Blueprints, WHMIS Certificate (online)

Course Completion

Students who attend 100% of the course and achieve a minimum of 70% on assignments, practical and written assessments will receive a certificate of completion for this course. Students who successfully complete all 6 courses of the Core Skills for Facilities Maintenance will receive a program certificate of completion.
