Enjoy a Night of Emerging Musical Talent

The Year End Showcase Concert Series presents students who are preparing to graduate from the Contemporary Music & Technology Program. A blend of original and cover songs from a variety of genres, students perform with peers in a series of shows that are open to the entire community.

Admission is by donation with doors opening at 7 pm. Each student performs a 30-minute set that begins at 7:30 pm. Seating is limited, so show up when doors open to make sure you are able to enjoy a night of emerging talent at the intimate Shambhala Music & Performance Hall on Nelson’s Tenth Street Campus.

This night will feature sets from Lazura and Andi Miller.

Luzura, Alt Pop

Born and raised in Nelson, genderfluid singer-songwriter Luzura (she/he) spends her time writing original songs and studying music at Selkirk College.

Since she was young, Luzura has always been interested in music. Pushed by her grandmother to take piano lessons, she instantly fell in love with it. She later joined the local choirs led by Allison Girvan and Malaika Horswill, quickly finding her footing in performing to an audience.
Luzura’s style ranges anywhere from powerful musical theatre ballads or upbeat indie pop jams to badass rock tunes. With heartfelt lyrics inspired by her experiences as a queer youth, Luzura’s music is bound to make you cry.

With an amazing team of talented bandmates (Kadin Bergen on bass, Colby Greaves on keys, Jayden Elnas on guitar, Maria Luisa Pineda Zuñiga on drums, and Mika Elkuf-Warthe, Daniela Pacheco and Zenaya Semple on backing vocals), Luzura has put together a set list of powerful and personal original music with the hope of leaving you teary-eyed and evoking change.

Andi Miller, Electronic/Live Band Hybrid

Andi Miller is a wild mountain woman who has lived in the Nelson area her whole life. She started taking classical piano lessons when she was four years old and was into competitive composition by the time she was nine.

Witnessing firsthand the birth and growth of the Shambhala Music Festival inspired her to pursue electronic dance music. Her experience at Selkirk College fueled her desire to expand upon that premise. Her showcase is a blend of electronic music and a live band.

Her showcase promises an electrifying fusion of electronic beats and live band performances. She is honored to collaborate with a distinguished ensemble of highly talented musicians, including vocalists Don Macdonald, Sapphire Guthrie, Luzura Ramos-Swanston, Clarissa Thompson, Bella Cat, Rena Vee and Yeshua Arcos. Accompanying them will be the rhythmic talents of Cameron Low on drums, the melodic mastery of Dune Macdonald and Jay Porteous on guitars, and the keyboard virtuosity of Aaron David.
