Admission is by donation with doors opening at 7 pm. Each student performs a 30-minute set that begins at 7:30 pm. Seating is limited, so show up when doors open to make sure you are able to enjoy a night of emerging talent at the intimate Shambhala Music & Performance Hall on Nelson’s Tenth Street Campus.

This night will feature sets from Bella Cat and Carter Lorenz.

Bella Cat, Soul/Funk/Rap/Pop/Latin

Bella Cat is a sensational artist that the world needs to discover. Her performances are raw, dynamic and, with a remarkable voice, she leaves her audiences shaking in their seats with tears, goosebumps and fulfillment. Performing soul, funk, rap, pop and Latin fusion, Bella Cat is surely a show you don't want to miss. You can expect a versatile musical set of warm feelings, freedom and inspiration.

Bella’s voice and performances have been described to be like Tina Turner, Janis Joplin, Amy Winehouse and Etta James, but she is truly a one-of-a-kind performer just like these legends. Now known widely in North America after nine cross-Canada tours, her performance on Hollywood Boulevard, a concert at the International Jazz Fest in Haiti, her appearance on Canada's TV show La Voix and, most recently her concert in Costa Rica, Bella Cat is becoming an international sensation.

Performing with her at the showcase concert will be Selkirk College alumni students Seneca Schones and Anuj Sharma. She will also be featuring some special guests, Renzo singing in Spanish and LBEE the Drag-Jack to add a visual psychedelic element to the showcase. You can listen to her latest album on most streaming platforms titled Fries and Gravy.

Carter Lorenz, Neoclassical Metal

Carter Lorenz is a guitarist and composer from Salmon Arm, currently residing in Nelson. You will be captivated by his energetic rock and metal performances of original songs.

Influenced by J-pop and classical genres, his works feature dual guitar solos, dazzling harpsichord, soaring vocals, and lyrics about mythology and fantasy.

His interest in music spawned from listening to artists such as Iron Maiden, Rush, X Japan and Tom Petty. These interests later led him to pick up the guitar and play in bands in Salmon Arm throughout high school. Currently, he is studying at Selkirk College as a composition major.

Carter’s riveting performance will be one you don’t want to miss, featuring the likes of Jay Porteus on guitar, Kadin Bergin on bass, Erik Czechak on keys, Reid Erikson on drums, Dune Macdonald on vocals and Cao Lê Hoàng on sound. Be there or be square.
