Instructor & Placement Coordinator, Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Alyssa grew up in the Kootenay's and is a proud alumni of the Selkirk College/ UVic BSN Program, having graduated with distinction in 2007. Over the past 11 years she has gained nursing experience in general medicine, palliative care, surgical and perisanesthesia clinical areas of practice. Most recently, working as the Patient Care Coordinator on the Surgical Unit at KBRH gave her the opportunity to participate in many leadership development courses. Out of this grew a passion for shared, collaborative leadership in healthcare.

Alyssa values kindness, compassion and building authentic, collaborative relationships with those she works with; colleagues, students, clients and families. Being new to the nursing faculty, she looks forward to sharing her love of nursing with students and learning along side them.

Embracing the Kootenay lifestyle, Alyssa spends much of her time outside of work hiking, biking and skiing in the mountains that surround us. Spending time with friends and family, often around a dinner table with great food, are some of her most cherished moments.
