Instructor, Education Assistant & Community Support Worker

Lisa has worked in the human services field since 1989, when she got her first job working with individuals with disability/disabled people. She’s held a variety of positions in community living since then, and in the West Kootenay area specifically since 1995. She completed the Classroom and Community Support Worker Program at Selkirk College in 2009, leading to her time as an education assistant School District 8. This allowed her to meet a wide spectrum of students and families, working collaboratively to support student success in a school setting.

Lisa enjoys instructional design, curriculum development and supporting students to define and achieve their own successes. She feels privileged to have been part of the development and delivery of SPECTRUM Autism Resources & Training as well as participating currently in the development of SPECTRUM Dementia Companion. She joined the instructional staff in the Education Assistant & Community Support Worker Program in 2016 and is pleased to be a current part of the program that she graduated from.

She finished her master's degree in education and technology in 2021 and has a working understanding of the challenges facing post-secondary students today who are often juggling home, school and work commitments!

In addition to her work at Selkirk College, Lisa has been an illustrator, graphic recorder and hardcore polycrafter, raising children and chickens and cats and dogs and all manner of plants on her hobby farm in Crescent Valley.
