Choosing Peace in a Time of Rising Militarization
Join us at the Mir Centre to mark the International Day of Peace.
In the spirit of shared values and commitment to the ideals of the Mir Centre, we will gather to share what it means to choose peace in this time of rising militarization and war.
Featured Speaker
Ellen Woodsworth, co-chair of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) and founder of the World Peace Forum, will join us remotely from Ottawa, where, as part of a delegation of women from across the country, she and others will have just delivered a letter to Prime Minister Mark Carney urging the federal government to stop increasing military spending, cancel the Defence Industrial Strategy, and invest instead in a green, peace-care economy.
Come to listen and learn, share your own thoughts on resisting militarization, and find strength in the solidarity of others who care as you do.
