Nominations Open for 2025 Student Leadership Elections

An election has been called to fill student positions on the Education Council and the Selkirk College Board of Governors. These positions offer students a great leadership development opportunity.

If you are currently enrolled and in good standing, you are eligible to run for these positions. 

Selkirk College Board of Governors

  • Two student positions. Applications are encouraged from all Selkirk College campuses and learning centres. 
  • The Selkirk College Board of Governors meets the fourth Tuesday of each month from 4–7 pm.

Education Council

  • Four student positions. Applications are encouraged from all Selkirk College campuses and learning centres. 
  • Education Council meets on the second Tuesday of each month from 4:30–6:30 pm.

Responsibilities

The terms of office for these positions are from October 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, or earlier, depending on program end date. These roles require about three to four hours of preparation before each meeting.

Submit an Application

Follow these steps to complete the nomination forms for the Selkirk College Board of Governors and Education Council for the 2025/26 academic year.

  1. Write a candidate campaign statement to include with your candidate application form. This statement should include a short description about yourself and a short description of why you are interested in sitting on one of these committees (up to 200 words).
  2. Complete the Nomination Application Form. This form is available in fillable PDF or pick up a paper copy at the Welcome Centre and the Office of the Registrar on the Castlegar Campus and at the reception desk on all other campuses. 
  3. Submit all forms no later than Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 2 pm.

Deadlines

  • Nominations must be received by Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 2 pm.
  • The campaign runs from Friday, September 19, to Tuesday, September 23.
  • Election/Voting (if needed). If an election is necessary, all students will receive a link through their student email to allow them to vote for the student of their choice electronically. Voting will take place from 10 am on Wednesday, September 24, to 5 pm on Thursday, September 25.
