Instructor, Early Childhood Care & Education
Veronica Maclean is a 3rd generation Canadian, an early childhood educator (ECE), an Instructor (ECEC), mother, auntie, sister, daughter, ally and friend. She brings 35+ years of experience to her ECEC practice and pedagogy. Veronica is a Selkirk College alumna, completing an ECE certificate, HSER diploma, and Associate of Arts degree in Castlegar, BC. She is also a UVIC (BCYC) and UBC (MEd ECE) alumni. In September 2025, Veronica will begin a Doctorate in Education in Equity Studies at the University of Western Ontario (UWO).
Veronica’s pedagogical commitment is to reconceptualizing the image/identity of the early childhood educator. Her work centers around nurturing a rich image of the early childhood educator; one who is able to respond to the concerns of our current times. Her leadership initiatives and projects include the creation of Potentia: Activating Change in Early Childhood Education, This is an academic student-led journal that is committed to mentoring and nurturing a collaborative professional community of early childhood educators.
