Sara was born and raised in Nelson and has always loved the Kootenays.

After receiving an athletic scholarship to the United States, she later went on to teach English in Japan where she fell in love with education.

Since then, Sara has involved herself in several inclusive education opportunities such as horticultural therapy, Special Olympics and transitional vocational programs.

Sara has a Master of Education from Athabasca University and comes to Selkirk with seven years' experience working with and teaching students with various abilities in a post-secondary setting.
