Tips on Renting in Our Regions
-
The housing market in the Kootenay and Boundary regions is very competitive. Make sure to have your contact and housing references ready before making any housing inquiries. Landlords may ask personal questions, such as if you have a job and or where you attend school.
-
Move-in dates are normally the first day of each month. Tenants normally must tell their landlord one month before they are planning on moving out.
-
Landlords will typically ask new tenants to pay a damage deposit. This fee is usually half the cost of one month's rent and will be returned upon moving out, providing that the rented unit is in the same condition as when you moved in.
-
Double-check which campus your program is located on. Although applications such as Google Maps will give you an estimated travel length, weather across the four seasons can dramatically impact the length of a commute. Make sure to give yourself more than enough time to drive to your destination.
