"My teaching approach is based on respect and appreciation of the individuality of every person. Apart from helping students to achieve their academic goals, I strive to instill a love for life-long learning and to give students the skills and tools so that they can be independent and tackle any learning task on their own."  —Andrea Kösling

I am a Selkirk College alum and completed my first two years of university at Selkirk College in Castlegar in 1996. While attending Selkirk College, I was amazed at the caring attitude of the instructors—one instructor personally marched me into the computer lab when I was ready to drop out of the class; another hugged me in the hallway after I aced a particularly difficult math final.

Unsurprisingly, I fell in love with the beauty and the people of the Kootenays, and after finishing my Bachelor of Arts in English in 1999, I returned to work at Selkirk College in various positions.  Since then, I have completed my Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction, and I am currently an Adult Basic Education Instructor at the Nakusp Learning Centre.

My teaching approach is based on respect and appreciation of the individuality of every person. Apart from helping students to achieve their academic goals, I strive to instill a love for life-long learning and to give students the skills so that they can be independent and tackle any learning task on their own.

Outside of work, I spend the summers gardening, keeping up with my two young children, and trying to keep the chickens safe from weasel, coyote, bear, and bobcat attacks (yes, I have lost a lot of chickens; they now live in a fortress).
