Alysha Baker

Alysha completed her PhD at UBC (Okanagan Campus) and a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Denver.

She joined Selkirk College in 2021. Alysha currently teaches Introduction to Psychology II (online) but her other teaching interests include research methods and design, statistics and data analysis, nonverbal communication, forensic psychology, applied cognition and social psychology. Her research focuses on trust assessments, emotional appraisal, deception and self-conscious emotions.

When Alysha is not in the classroom, she likes to be outside - whether that’s hiking with her dog and partner, dirtbiking or enjoying a patio with friends. Alysha grew up in the Kootenays and is excited to be giving back to her home community through education.
