Instructor, Business Communications, Academic English Literature

Karlie acknowledges each students’ learning journey is unique and important. She values students’ viewpoints and challenges students to consider different perspectives for discovery while providing a learner-centred teaching philosophy and environment.

As a Selkirk College University Arts and Sciences alum, Karlie understands the benefits of small class sizes and one-to-one instruction.

After attending Selkirk College, Karlie transferred to Thompson Rivers University, where she majored in business communications and completed a BA (hons) in Journalism. This launched her into a successful twelve-year career working for the BC provincial government, specializing in business communications and emergency management.

This role included representing the Ministry of Forests in provincial and national media relations support, strategic planning, social media and marketing development.

Karlie attained her master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies with a focus on adult education and literature. She currently instructs business communications and academic English literature where she enjoys engaging with her students.
