Tammy was born and raised in the West Kootenay and went on to complete her bachelor of arts in psychology from the University of Victoria before moving overseas to teach English in South Korea. This proved to be a life-altering experience and fuelled her love of travelling, learning and teaching! She returned to Canada to complete her bachelor of education from the University of British Columbia and began teaching in the Canadian school system, working in School Districts 20 and 51 as both a teacher and inclusion student support worker.
She later moved to Calgary and spent over a decade working in non-profits focusing on literacy programming, persons with disabilities and volunteer management. In 2018, she returned to the West Kootenay and hasn't looked back! She is grateful to be able to work and live in the beautiful Kootenays, to be close to family, and to make time to get outdoors as much as possible with her husband and rather large dog.
