Meditation 101: Learn it. Build it. Share it.

BECOME A MEDITATION FACILITATOR - NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

As our world evolves into a new age of energy and technology, uncertain times lie ahead. As the world feels like it's descending into chaos, there is one thing you can do to limit the pain, stress, and anxiety that comes with living life in the middle, and that's meditation.

What is Meditation?

Meditation is a lot like sleep, except it's as if you're fully awake, living your dreams, exploring your memories, and roaming the world within.

If you've heard of meditation before, you may think it means to "shut down your mind" or "silence your thoughts", but this is a common misconception of the practice. These notions come from describing a person sitting in meditation, much like describing someone sleeping. Though it may appear this way on the outside, the experience within is far more complex than the eye can see.

However, the practice itself is incredibly simple, and according to ancient tradition, if you can breathe, you can meditate. In fact, that's all it takes to practice meditation - just one conscious breath at a time.

Try it yourself! - Just close your eyes, breathe very slowly in and out through your nose, and realize how quickly you can regulate your nervous system and reach a state of calm!

Why Meditate?

Countless studies have shown how meditation can improve your mental health, make you more self-aware, and increase focus and concentration, but that's just the beginning. Our ancestors have been meditating for millennia, and it is well-documented how this simple yet effective practice has mindfully inspired our creations, ignited our passions, and deepened our understanding of ourselves and of life itself - something we could all benefit from now more than ever.

What to Learn?

Just like yoga, before you can successfully practice meditation, you need to learn how to do it first. And in order to understand the how, it's important to prioritize what you need to learn first.

In Meditation 101, I've compiled a lifetime of practice and almost a decade of teaching experience into a 9-week course designed to turn anyone into a meditation facilitator. I've found that the best method to learning meditation is to learn with the intention to share your practice with others:

Step 1. Learn it. Starting with the basics, you will learn everything you need to know to comprehend what meditation is and how to start meditating. You'll gain new perspectives and some new language to help you put all the pieces together. And don't worry, I've taught kids as young as 5 years old and seniors as old as 95, so I have developed a number of analogies to help you wrap your head around this esoteric world.

Step 2. Build it. We're all unique individuals; no two minds operate the exact same way. So after you've learned the fundamentals, it's time to build your very own personalized practice. Utilizing your own experiences as a frame of reference, you'll realize how to build your very own meditation practice from the ground up. Not only will this help you overcome your own struggles and limitations, but it will also help you build the dialogue to share your practice with others.

Step 3. Share it. Finally, once you've built it, it's time to understand how you can share your practice with your community and know the basics of facilitating a meditation class.

Whether you're intending to start your own meditation journey or looking to support others with theirs, by the end of this course, you'll know everything there is to know to facilitate meditation classes as a fundamental life skill that AI cannot take from you.

Help yourself and help your community with Meditation 101: Learn it. Build it. Share it.
