Lucas joined the School of Environment & Geomatics in 2024, teaching ENVR 170 (Fish and Wildlife Ecology) and RFW 273 (Techniques in Wildlife Sciences II).

Prior to working at Selkirk College, Lucas completed a BSc at the University of British Columbia in Ecology & Environmental Sciences. He specialized in tropical ecosystems and completed an undergraduate thesis studying hummingbird species in the Amazon. Lucas then completed a PhD at Stanford University and spent several years studying the ecological cascades initiated by hunting in the Congo Basin rain forest.

Originally from southern Alberta, Lucas is excited to be located in the Kootenays which has an amazing wildlife region.
